In August, we were thrilled to welcome Congressman Wenstrup to a roundtable with our Nurse-Family Partnership Nurse Home Visitors and families. Our dedicated nurses shared more about how they work with families to develop parenting skills, improve the health of moms and babies, and create stimulating and nurturing home environments. They also help link families to other community supports like housing, transportation, Medicaid, and more. Our ECS NFP moms shared how participating in the program has changed their lives. We know the COVID-19 pandemic has impacted so much of our lives, and Congressman Wenstrup was also able to hear from nurses and families about the successful use of virtual visits.

Congressman Wenstrup also expressed his enthusiasm and support for evidence-based strategies, and we are grateful to have him as a champion for home visiting services in Ohio and nationwide. Families across the country voluntarily participate in home visiting programs to obtain support, reduce stress, and build nurturing relationships with their children.

We are thrilled that the Jackie Walorski Maternal & Child Home Visiting Reauthorization Act has passed out of the House Ways and Means Committee unanimously!

Congressman Wenstrup shared the following about his visit and support for MIECHV:

"Last month I met with young moms in Ohio who went through the Nurse-Family Partnership program. I've seen firsthand how the program helps maternal and child health, family safety and stability, child development and readiness for school - it's a broad range. To look at these people in the eyes and hear them tell me 'I don't think my child would be healthy without this program. Home visiting made all the difference in the world to me and my now healthy child. To hear from a young mom and know she's in a better place and on a better path reminded me of the good work that this program does and showed me the value of investing in a program we know works."

Thank you to the nurses who support families every day and to the families who made time to share their experiences with us and Rep. Wenstrup. Thank you to the sweet, bright kiddos who came with their moms and gave the whole event more meaning and more joy!
